On October 13 and 14, one of the outstanding masters of the pointed pen, Michael Sull, held a workshop on the Spencerian script at the Contemporary Museum of Calligraphy. He spoke of the origins and development of the historic American calligraphy script, and after the workshop participants practiced writing lower-case and capital letters of the Spencerian script. Special attention was paid to the different variations of writing capitals, and also a special block was dedicated to Flourishing, i.e. decorative calligraphic elements.
The two days felt like a true calligraphy celebration for the participants. They immersed themselves fully into the process, the atmosphere of beauty, and finesse of this historical script.
At the end of the crash course, Michael Sull personally inscribed certificates of participation for all the attendees.
The museum, in its turn, presented a certificate and a letter of acknowledgement to the calligraphy master for his outstanding professionalism and dedication to the art of fine writing and for his noble approach to teaching, signed by the director Alexey Shaburov.
