A beautiful story of the III International Exhibition of Calligraphy has started...

Yesterday, on September 9, the center of Veliky Novgorod, more precisely, Yaroslav's Court saw a solemn presentation of the III International Exhibition of Calligraphy. Sergei Mitin, Governor of the Novgorod Region, Yuri Bobryshev, Mayor of Novgorod, His Beatitude Leo, Archbishop of Novgorod and Old Rus', the cultural intelligentsia of Veliky Novgorod, official delegations from other cities, the project participants – artists, calligraphers, mass media, as well as the Project partners and friends graced their attention to the event.

Alexey Shaburov, General Manager of the Exhibition, delivered a warm address to the guests, briefing them on the project history, demonstrated its beauty, speaking about its social significance. There were words of welcome from the Governor of the Novgorod Region, Mayor of Novgorod and Archbishop of Novgorod. Valentina Orlova, Chairman of the World Club of Petersburgers read a greeting letter from Boris Piotrovski, Director of the State Hermitage.

Presentation of the project revealing a lot of its vivid details left nobody indifferent. The draw of the show was the calligraphic performance by Pyotr Chobitko, Chairman of the National Union of Calligraphers, Yuri Koverdyayev, project’s calligrapher, as well as Nazip Ismagilov, the true master of Arabic calligraphy. Mr. Mitin, Governor of the Novgorod Region got deeply engrossed in the performance and even tried his hand in the art.

The long-awaited opening of the exhibition will happen today at 03.00 pm – everyone is welcome. At the same time master classes with recognized masters of calligraphy: Dmitry Petrovsky (Russia), Georgie Andzhelopulos (Canada), Hassan Makaremi (France), Kim Jong Chil (Korea) and Nazip Ismagilov are to begin. We are waiting for you!
