FANS of Chinese calligraphy are able to feast their eyes on a myriad of styles done in the ancient Chinese art in an exhibition that is being held at Penang State Art Gallery at Dewan Sri Pinang on Lebuh Light until Sunday.
Organised by the Calligraphy Association of Penang, the showcase features 115 works of calligraphy by 65 members of the association including upcoming and accomplished artists in conjunction with its 25th anniversary.
The gallery association secretary Joo Joon Siew said the exhibition, held for the second time, showcased the artists' different styles.
“These fine calligraphy works are by our members from all ages,” she said, adding that many members are from Penang.
Calligraphy has evolved through time in terms of their characteristic form and artistic creativity.
There are five major fonts used such as Zhen, Cao, Li, Xing and Kai which are all found in the artworks on display.
Tanjung MP Ng Wei Aik officiated at the opening ceremony. Present was the association chairman Datuk Lam Wu Chong.
The gallery is open from 9am to 5pm on weekdays.
