Sokolniki Park, Moscow saw the opening of a large exhibition of calligraphy unfolding in a five thousand square metre two-storey mobile pavilion. For the first time ever, the event was attended by Barbara Calzolari, Pope Benedict XVI’s calligrapher; Nja Mahdaoui, UNESCO calligrapher, artist of the Arab sheikhs; Chen Wenfu, member of the Chinese Scientific Union of Antithetical Couplets, etc. The Contemporary Museum of Calligraphy proudly presents a World Famous Mezuzah, a chef d’oeuvre of sacred calligraphy written on parchment by Avraham Borshevsky, a famous Jerusalem calligrapher. The visitors will also have a unique opportunity to see the draft of the illustrated handwritten copy of the National Anthem of the Russian Federation (a gift to Dmitry Medvedev from Silvio Berlusconi), the first and only handwritten copy of the Constitution of the Russian Federation, the Holy Mantra, Calligraphy on a Wing of a Fly.
The exhibition will be on through November 14th.
