The Contemporary Museum of Calligraphy proposes to establish a monumental calligraphic composition in Veliky Novgorod.
As BaltInfo was informed in the press service of the city administration, the museum would like to thank the city for its hospitality. Sergei Mitin, Governor of the Novgorod Oblast, received a letter from Alexey Shaburov, Director of the Museum, in which the latter thanked the former for the support and assistance to the 3rd International Exhibition of Calligraphy that had been held from September 10–12.
Alexey Shaburov suggested that the monument should be erected near Yaroslav's Court, where the International Exhibition of Calligraphy took place. A draft was made with the proper material chosen.
The letter also states that according to expert estimations more that thirty-seven thousand people visited the event during the three days of its work, which is an absolute record for the exhibition. More than three hundred exhibits were displayed, including those listed in the Guinness World Records.
During the fixed event period, master classes with famous calligraphers were held. Several major events took place, including the participation of the Novgorod State United Museum Reserve’s exhibition of Russian calligraphy of 11-20th cc.
