Biography
Mr Zhao Xueli was born in 1954 in the city of Hegang, Heilongjiang province.
Head of the Academy of Calligraphy and Painting of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) Heilongjiang Provincial Committee, fellow of the Chinese National Research Institute for Art, member of the board of the Chinese Calligraphers' Association (CCA), vice-chairman of the Heilongjiang Association of the ‘Duilian’ Decorative Interior Inscriptions, guest fellow of the Heilongjiang Institute of Culture, member of the board of the Heilongjiang Association of Workers of Culture and Art, honored director of the Heilongjiang Modern Art National Research Institute, state art historian 1st Class.
Ex-member of the expert panel of the CCA and a former vice-chairman of the Heilongjiang Calligraphers' Association.
A participant and laureate of a number of China’s most prominent exhibitions. His magnificent works have been consistently exhibited at the exhibitions of the Chinese National Research Institute for Art.
In 2008, the publishing house Public Art issued “A collection of calligraphy works by Zhao Xueli”. In 2013, the publishing house China’s Cultural History published the album “One Hundred Characters in Zhao Xueli’s ‘Caoshu’ Style”. In 2017, the publishing house Enlightenment issued the book “Calligraphy of Laozi’s Tao Te Ching by Zhao Xueli”.
The artist authored columns in a number of printed publications, such as Calligraphy and Painting of China, The World of Painting, An Almanac of China’s Arts, the CPPCC Newspaper, and Heilongjiang Ribao.
His works can be found in both national and private collections in South Korea, Japan, England, Russia, Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan.
In a special competition in 2012, he was recognized as one of “The 30 Best Contemporary Calligraphers Whose Works Have an Artistic Value Besides Market Potential”.
