Biography

Georgy Kozubov (1939), MA in Art History, Professor, member of the Union of Artists of Russia.

1969, graduated from the Moscow State University of Printing Arts, the Faculty for Graphical Arts, Department of Art and Technical Design of Printed Products

1969-1984, artist, Head of the Laboratory of Book Fonts, Head of the New Font Division, Poligraphmash All-Union Research and Development Institute.

1971, prize winner in the Guttenberg Font Contest at IBA-71 Exhibition in Leipzig.

1975, included into the monographic edition of Works of Moscow Book Artists (Moscow Book Publishers, 1975).

1975-1980, co-head of the Fonts for Photocomposition international program.

1980, awarded with the VDNKh (All Russian Exhibition Centre) Golden Medal for introduction of photocomposition and offset printing into the production practice of graphic art enterprises of the country.

Since 1984, teacher in script art, at the Moscow State University of Printing Arts, the Faculty for Graphical Arts, Department of Art and Technical Design of Printed Products.

In 1987-89, participant in a number of international exhibitions in font art. Based on the results of Florilege competition (Paris) (1988), included into the final album of winners.

1989-1990, participant n the USSR/USA Calligraphy exhibition.

1990, his works were included in the exposition of DESIGN JOURNAL #31.

1991, defended his MA in Art History thesis on “Morphology of Artificial Scripts and Artistic Aspects of Their Systematic Formation”.

1991-1996, Assistant Professor, the Moscow State University of Printing Arts, the Faculty for Graphical Arts, Department of Art and Technical Design of Printed Products.

1996/2000, Chairman, the Moscow State University of Printing Arts, the Faculty for Graphical Arts, Department of Art and Technical Design of Printed Products.

Since 2001, Professor, teaching font graphics in artistic schools of Moscow. Member of the Union of Artists of Russia.

From 2003 - Professor, National Design College; Professor, A.N. Kosygin Moscow State Textile University

He had publications and patented inventions in Russia and abroad.

He teached a Font Graphics course in accordance with his author program, he engaged in painting, graphics, advertising, and graphic design.

Georgy Kozubov passed away on August 5, 2018.
