Nina Markoviс. Presentation: Miroslav’s Gospel: the most ancient Serbian illuminated manuscript

Nina Markovic (Montenegro, Pogdorica) is a self-taught calligraphy arist. She comes from an artistic family, a descendant of a famous Serbian architect (Momir Korunovic) and composer (Stanisa Korunovic). Nina started practicing calligraphy as a hobby in 2010. Her preferred material is religious texts. In her calligraphy works she likes to introduce illuminated initials, floral ornaments, raised gilding (gold leafing), and other decorative techniques. For Marcovic, calligraphy is a form of escaping from the hustle and bustle of contemporary gadget-dominated life, but also her effort to help preserve the national cultural heritage, and in particular, the Cyrillic alphabet.

At the 6th International Exhibition of Calligraphy, Marcovic will present two illuminated artworks and give a lecture on Miroslav's Gospel.
