Luo Lei. Lecture + workshop: Chinese calligraphy: History and styles

September 1st, 2017 will feature a workshop on Chinese calligraphy by Luo Lei from St. Petersburg.

Luo Lei is a calligrapher from Gansu, China. He professionally studied calligraphy and then taught it in China before moving to Russia in 1996. In March 2017, he founded the School of Chinese Calligraphy in St. Petersburg.

At the workshop, Lei will tell the story of Chinese calligraphy, the evolution of the hieroglyphic forms. During the practical part of the workshop participants will get to know the instruments for the Chinese calligraphy: the brush, the ink, the inkstand, - and write the “Consistency” character in the Kaishu style.
