Biography of Tatiana Dmitrievna Kovrighina

She was born in Moscow on April 25, 1937. In 1962 she graduated from the Moscow Textile Institute (faculty of applied art). She was trained under F.V. Antonov, V.V. Pochitalova, M.V. Khvostenko, V.M. Shugaev. At present time she is living and working in Moscow. She deals with easel painting, book illustration, ceramics and easel graphics. She is a member of the Artists’ Union of Russia (since 1973 – member of the Artists’ Union of the USSR), and of the International Art Foundation. She has participated in a number of Soviet, Russian and international exhibitions.

Her one-man shows in Moscow: 1982 (Begovaya Str., Moscow Department of the Artists’ Union of Russia); 1993 (Tverskaya Str., At Vasya’s Gallery); 1995 (State Exhibition Hall in Solyanka). Her one-man shows abroad: 1980 – Greece, Patra; 1988 – Italy, Arezzo. Other exhibitions: 1990 - Kaliningrad - Konegsberg, 1st and 2nd biennale; 1992 - Kaliningrad – Konegsberg; 1998 – 5th  anniversary biennale. 1990 – New Russian Art, Italy, Arezzo. 1990 – Biennale in Sweden, Olfostrøm. 1994 – Triennale, France. 1999 – the 9th Regional exhibition Moscow-Petersburg (Central House of Artists). 1997 – Moscow, Quadrinnale. 2000, 2001, 2003, 2005 – the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th Collage exhibitions. 2002 – one-man show, Plyos. 2004 – one-man show, Radischev Art Museum, Saratov. 2004 – the 1st All-Russian E.L. Congress (Russian Ex-libris Association), Vologda. The Lithographic Workshop in Maslovka Street - the 1st Moscow international biennale, the Kovcheg exhibition hall.

The original copies of her works are reposited at:  Glinka Musical Museum, Moscow; Bakhrushin State Theatre Museum, Moscow; Museum of Moscow History; Ex-libris Museum, Moscow; Russian State Library, Moscow; Dostoyevsky Literature and Art Museum, St Petersburg; Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts, Moscow;  Central Museum of Russian Military Forces, Moscow; Museum of the Great Patriotic War 1941-1945, Moscow; Marina Tsvetaeva House-museum, Moscow; the House on Embankment Municipal museum, Moscow; and in museums and art galleries in Barnaul, Vologda, Kaliningrad, Komsomolsk-on-Amur, Kurgan, Novosibirsk, Norilsk, Orel, Petrozavodsk, Plyos, Pskov, Yaroslavl and St Aleksey Hermitage (Yaroslavl Region).  And abroad her works are reposited in the museums of Italy, Iceland, USA, Sweden, Germany, Armenia and some other countries. Her works were included into the private collection of Pope John Paul II.

The artist tends to improve the suppleness of her diversified works which include drawings, aquarelles, block prints. Her art credo says: “Every person chooses his own way of self-cognition. It is important for human beings to keep in hearts the creations of nature and mankind. I believe that an artist must be as sincere as possible. I try to make my works clear and simple by applying various art techniques”.
