Soviet and Russian film director, scriptwriter, producer, actor, poet, song text writer. As a rule he plays walk-on parts in his movies. People’s Artist of the USSR (1984). In 2008 he was awarded with the Order “For Merits to the Fatherland” of 2nd degree “for outstanding merits in development of home filmmaking and long creative activity”.

Grigory Vasilyevich Alexandrov

(1903-1983)

Soviet film director, scriptwriter, actor. People’s Artist of the USSR (1948), twice winner of the Stalin Award (1941, 1950). In 1979, on the basis of materials shot by the group of Sergei Eisenstein, he edited film “Long Live Mexico!” which was awarded the prize of the Moscow International Film Festival.

Sergei Mikhailovich Eisenstein

(1898-1948)

Soviet film director, scriptwriter, cinema theorist and teacher. He was a director of many famous movies including Die Walküre at the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow. Discoveries in the sphere of film editing allowed Eisentein to introduce the concept of “intellectual cinematograph” and synthesis of art and science. Honored Cultural Worker of the RSFSR (1935).
