Identification by a signature made with a mouse

Signatures

Some years ago British researchers worked out the system of identification of a person by his signature made with a computer mouse.

This method was elaborated by Dr. Peter Macowen from Queen Mary London University. The method is based on personal peculiarities of work with a computer mouse, especially the peculiarities of control of a polar manipulator. According to the researcher, these peculiarities are as unique for every person as one’s handwriting.

With the help of this elaboration it will be possible to identify if a person paying with a credit card is its actual owner. To do this, it is sufficient to copy one’s signature so that the system could identify it. According to the tests, the system works correctly in 99% of cases.

As Dr. Peter Macowen puts it, the system is much safer than passwords and soon can become one of the biometric factors.
