The State Historical Museum is the largest historical museum of Russia. Its numerous exhibitions range from the pre-historic to present-day Russia.

The museum was being built from 1875 to 1881 under the supervision of architect Vladimir Sherwood. The walls of the Historical museum are made of red brick just like the walls of the Kremlin. The Museum’s towers resemble those of Kremlin. The halls were decorated by the foremost architects.

The biggest Russian archive keeps documents of the period from the 11th to 20th century. here one can find materials of Institutions of the Chief, Central and Local Departments of Russian State and Russian Empire existing till the administrative reforms of the 18th – 19th centuries, funds of Central Landmark Institutions of Russia (end of the 18th – beginning of the 20th centuries), documents of the state and public figures, men of science and culture, patrimonial, and monastic archives, collections of rare historic books, culture and way of life of the Russian nation and other peoples living in the territory of the Russian Empire, collections of domestic and foreign handwritten books, old printed and rare editions of the 15th – 19th centuries. This archive is located in Moscow.

Stieglitz St. Petersburg State Academy of Art and Industry is one of the most prestigious art universities not only in Russia, but also in Europe and all across the world. The history of the Academy started in 1876 when at the direction of Alexander II and due to money granted by Baron Alexander L. Stieglitz (1814-1884) the Central College for Technical Drawing was established.

Matenadaran is the Armenian research and development centre in Yerevan, which is one of the largest world manuscript storages. In particular, Matenadaran has one of the largest collections of Old Armenian manuscripts.

The funds of Matenadaran count up to 17, 000 ancient manuscripts and 100, 000 ancient archive documents.

The Terem-Quartet is a unique group which has improved the performance of traditional Russian folk music and which is now has a national endowment. The group does not belong to any of the existing musical trends or genres. Musical experts call it a 'terem-style', which has added fresh sound and new aesthetics to traditional genres.

The Chamber Choir of Smolny Cathedral (formed in 1991) is one of the most famous choir companies in St. Petersburg. The choir is only at the beginning of its career but it has already gained recognition in St. Petersburg and other cities.

The choir often performs at Smolny Cathedral, St. Isaac Cathedral, Sampsonievsky Cathedral, Church of Savior-upon-Blood, the Philharmonic and Chapel Halls, and takes part in a plethora of festivals, including the All-Russian Choir Assemblies and Easter Festival. The Chamber Choir of Smolny Cathedral is a modern musical company. Its vocal manner combines European delicacy and voice-leading graphics and traditional Russian intensive tonal quality.

The unofficial and non-profit project “Culture of writing” (www.gramma.ru) was launched to popularize the Russian language. Its target is to help people master the standards of contemporary Russian and skills of speaking, writing and text editing. .

The aim of the Russian educational portal (www.school.edu.ru) is to improve the quality and affordability of Russian education. The portal was created as a kind of consortium which members unite the information resources and share them with the entire educational community.

Since 1996 the portal has been developed by the non-profit organization “Russian Network of Culture Heritage” with support of reputable sponsors. For all these years the portal has been permanently improved thus answering the ever-increasing demands of the site population.
