Li Shuangyang, a famous Chinese calligrapher, appear in Times Square

On June 8, 2016, Chinese calligrapher Li Shuangyang with his Yilu Academy of Calligraphy became the first Chinese calligrapher to appear in Times Square.

Li Shuangyang was born in China's Jiangsu Province and now lives in Nanjing City. Li is one of the representative figures of China's young calligraphy artists and is a rising star who is also considered a genius. Li Shuangyang is also the founder of Yilu Academy of Calligraphy.

Yilu Academy is an academy which studies ancient Chinese cultural and calligraphy. Yilu Academy of Calligraphy is located on the Qinhuai river near the Nanjing Arts Institute.

Yilu Academy of Calligraphy takes "inheriting the classics and decorating our lives" as an aim and seeks to increase the popularity of calligraphy, cultivating the calligraphy among a younger generation, and displaying the calligraphy culture. Yilu Academy of Calligraphy has established a platform for the majority of calligraphy enthusiasts to study, create and discuss calligraphy.
