The Contemporary Museum of Calligraphy, opened in Moscow Sokolniki Park, will present to the general public Russia's first collection of writing letters, words and entire books in a fine- art style.
Humanity has known this ancient art since the first appearance of a written language. Museums, preserving the art of calligraphers, exist and are popular in many countries worldwide. Despite this, there was no permanent exhibition until recent days, displaying masterpieces like handwritten books, royal charters, welcoming addresses and more created by calligraphy artists. Works included into the debut exhibition of fine texts are made by masters from different parts of the world and, of course, from Russia.
The International Exhibition of Calligraphy was held in St. Petersburg before the unique museum launch. This September the meeting of craftsmen capable of transforming letters into artworks includes a show and also several master classes for the visitors.
