Famous masters of letters from all over the world will arrive in Veliky Novgorod. They are invited by the administration of the Contemporary Museum of Calligraphy, which organizes the III International Exhibition of Calligraphy.
As part of the comprehensive program of events, workshops will be held in the grounds of Yaroslav's Court, in the main pavilion of the exhibition. During all three days, from 10 till 12 September 2010, renowned calligraphers will be showing the art of beautiful handwriting.

Seminar themes are various, for example: “Secrets of Cyrillic alphabet”, “Beautiful feminine names in the Arabic calligraphy”, “History of greeting-cards. Examples of congratulatory lettering”, “Old Russian calligraphy”. The exhibition guests are welcome to visit workshops on Slavonic, Chinese, Greek, Hebrew, Arabic, Ukrainian, Korean calligraphy. Much attention will be paid to the theme “Sacred Calligraphy”.

Other three workshops, including the workshop on Birchbark manuscripts, will be held in the Novgorod State United Museum-Reserve. It is for the first time that the workshop on porcelain will be held during the International Exhibition of Calligraphy, with the assistance of the Novgorod Land Artistic Culture Museum. The workshop will be led by Hassan Makaremi, a Frenchman of Iranian origin.

Lessons of Slavic handwriting
Apart from Mr. Makaremi, other well-known calligraphers will arrive in Russia, for example, Kim Jong Chil (Korea), Georgia Angelopoulos (Canada/Greece), Michel d’Anastasio (France), Karin Bauer (Germany), Borghild Telnes, Bas Vlam (Norway), and many others. Our country will be presented by really professional maestros of calligraphy.
