Flourishes and loops, perfect strokes and ovals: an exhibition of Russian calligraphy has opened in Yaroslavl Institute for Educational Development. This time among the presented ornamental writing there are only two works by the master Yuri Arutsev, the rest are the works of his students and examples of the 19th and early 20th century's writing. The teacher considers monograms and texts traced out by a child's hand especially valuable.
“The exhibition is designed primarily for teachers to see the beauty of writing and initiate the return of penmanship to Russian schools. The skill of beautiful writing helps to revive the national ethics, increase intellect, develop children's ability to learn and to work on themselves. And that's it, that's how we get a high-standard system, like the one we had,” - says the calligrapher Yuri Arutsev.
