The Poetry of Calligraphy International Exhibition will open at 04:00 p.m. on May 19th in the Small Hall of the St. Petersburg Union of Artists’ Exhibition Centre. This event will continue the tradition of The Form and The Letter annual exhibitions of calligraphy.
The exhibition will feature the best pieces created by the teachers and students of the From Aza to Izhitsa Centre Of Calligraphy Art last academic year. Visitors will be able to admire the work of the Centre’s creative director Petr Petrovich Chobytko, as well as pieces of the Centre’s teachers, who are professional calligraphers, created using various techniques.
The exhibition will also include calligraphy papers and art pieces created by the teachers and students of the Tallinn School of Calligraphy.
The Form and The Letter exhibition will expand its geography and open its doors in the Sofia Hall in Pushkin starting from May 30th.
May 19th Opening Programme:
04:00 p.m. — opening ceremony and a buffet reception
05:00 p.m. — performance of Novaya Gollandiya
05:00 p.m. — 05:40 p.m. — a calligraphy workshop hosted by Petr Petrovich Chobytko and a master of Chinese calligraphy Mr Wan.
May 24th Programme:
To celebrate the Day of Slavic Writing and Culture, exhibition organizers prepared free workshops on the traditional Cyrillic scripts:
02:00 p.m. — 03:00 p.m. — Uncial Script workshop
05:00 p.m. — 06 p.m. — Russian Cursive Writing workshop hosted by Petr Petrovich Chobytko

Opening hours and entrance tickets:
The exhibition in the Small Hall of the St. Petersburg Union of Artists’ Exhibition Centre located at: 38 Bolshaya Morskaya St., St. Petersburg, will be open every day from 12:00 p.m. to 07:00 p.m. from May 19th to May 24th.
The entrance is free on the opening day. The entrance ticket to all exhibitions costs 100 roubles (a reduced-fare ticket costs 30 roubles).
The exhibition in Sofia Hall located at: 1 Sofia Square, Pushkin, will be open from 11:00 a.m. to 07:00 p.m. every day except Mondays and Thursdays from May 30th to June 20th. A donation is required as an entrance fee, except for children and senior visitors.
The exhibition is organised in collaboration with the St. Petersburg Government.
