The Contemporary Museum of Calligraphy in the Sokolniki Park Museum

The Sokolniki Park Museum has recently presented a new exposition titled Exhibitions in Sokolniki. Past and Present. The exposition dedicated to the decades-long exhibition history of Sokolniki Park and demonstrates a retrospective of the events related to the exhibition industry that took place in the park from 1930ies till present times. The Contemporary Museum of Calligraphy is also represented in the exposition: there is a stand where you can learn about the Museum’s history and a showcase with some exhibits demonstrating the essence of the art of calligraphy. The artwork with an extract from Shakespeare’s sonnet written in Copperplate by the Russian master Vitaly Shapovalov, who is a permanent participant of the International Exhibition of Calligraphy project, is completed by a typical set of writing instruments: quills, an inkstand, a piece of parchment, a wax seal.
