Personal exhibition of Oleg Yakhnin

On February 4th a personal exhibition of the honoured artist of the Russian Federation Oleg Yakhnin opened in the marble palace in St. Petersburg.

Oleg Yakhnin specializes in painting, easel graphic and book illustration. A graduate of Repin Art Institute at the Russian Academy of Arts, he is renowned in Russia and abroad. The exhibition is a representation of the artist’s works created over 45 years. It comprises over 150 works, among them oil paintings, watercolors, etchings and lithographic works, created from late 1970ies to 2015.

Among others, the exposition showcases works from the Faust series (1981) which brought fame to the artist, and a number of artworks made in the etching technique: “Seven Deathly Sins” (2014), “Slavonic Mythical Creatures” (2011), “The Grand Codex” (1999-2003).

Also showcased are book illustrations made over the recent years for the Vita Nova publishing house, ex libris, unique author’s copies with copperplate engravings, illustrations from the series “Twenty Sonnets to Mary Queen of Scots” by Joseph Brodsky from the collection of the Russian Museum.

The exhibition is organized with the support of the project “Free Artists of Saint Petersburg”.
