Lettering artist from St. Petersburg created Soviet versions of global brand logos

Professional designer, calligrapher and lettering artist from St. Petersburg Mike Levchenko created a set of logos of global brands made in Soviet-time stylistics.

The artist presented a collection of posters of such world-famous brands as McDonalds, Apple, Sumsung and Chanel look as if they were made in the USSR. The collection has made it to the top of Behance, a popular art platform.

Levchenko describes his passion with letters as having deep roots: “I've been in love with letters since high-school and been doing them professionally for the past 5 years. The calligraphy and lettering variety of styles are my main inspiration because the amount of options of a single word is not limited by anything but your skill and imagination.”

When asked what inspired him for this project, Levchenko explains that he has a lot of experience with Soviet-style lettering, for which he has a particular affection, but this was his first global project. The main idea of the project is to present universally familiar brands in a new light, as if they were developed in the USSR.

LEvchenko confesses that it has been his professional dream to have his work among the top selections on Behance, where so many professional artists and designers dwell. And now, with his «USSR-styled Modern Brands», he has made it there.
