Harry Potter exhibition opened in Pushkin Library

12 Inches of Vellum by Thursday: Happy Potter in Letters and Capitals – this is the title of the exhibit, which will run until October 12 in Pushkin Central City Library, the 3rd Sovetskaya street, 8.

The exhibit features calligraphy pieces based on Beedle the Bard's tales, as well as a large collection of items associated with the 4 faculties in Hogwarts: Slytherin, Gryffindor, Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw.

The calligraphy is made by Irina Lebedeva, who created gilded medieval manuscripts as her own interpretation of how the originals of Beedle the Bard's tales could look like, written in the 15th century.

In her creative process Irina examined the samples of ancient manuscripts kept in the Russian National and British Libraries, which made her decorations and writing style basically undistinguishable from the originals.

The exhibition is free.
