The Danė River, flowing in Klaipėda between the Biržos and Pilies bridges, was decorated with calligraphy elements made on the symbolic sails. The 5th International Written Art Exhibition will be unveiled in the Klaipėda Culture Communication Centre from July 18th to August 17th. The Calligraphy On Sails project, the extraordinary advertisement of this exhibition, is unveiled now on eight cardboard sails, which were purposely constructed and fixed on four metal pontoons right at the city’s waterway.
This year’s exhibition itself is dedicated to two important events in Lithuania: the 300th anniversary of the poet Kristijonas Donelaitis and the 110th anniversary of the Lithuanian literature renewal.
The sail’s ads have calligraphy works printed on them, which were selected at the international competition. The Calligraphy On Sails project is organized by the Žuvies akis group of artists. The project features works by painters from Lithuania, Belarus, Israel, and Denmark.
