A unique concert has taken Vienna on a magic journey from traditional Chinese calligraphy to Chinese music. The Chinese Calligraphy Concert was held at Hofburg Palace earlier this month.
This is a theme concert that integrated the history and culture of Chinese calligraphy with traditional Chinese music.
During the concert, audiences enjoyed the classical music from different dynasties while watching the calligrapher write poetry to the rhythm. The performance brought an audio-visual feast to the audience.
"I'm very excited and impressed. We cannot see this kind of performance here. It would be better if I could understand the meaning of the words. I liked the dance, it was so beautiful. The music is good as well. It's different from ours, but very elegant", said one of the spectators.
"I have many Chinese friends, but I have to say this is my first time to see this kind of performance. I had watched the Chinese New Year Concert in the Golden Hall. But this one is different. I think this concert is excellent!” another exalted spectator said.
The live performance of Chinese calligraphy was conducted by Li Binquan, a member of the Chinese Calligraphers Association.
This concert marks the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Austria.
