A competition on calligraphy (the art of beautiful writing) among high school students will take place on the Day of Slavic Writing and Culture in Bishkek. The competition will be held within the framework of the events dedicated to the celebration of the Day of Slavic Writing and Culture and the 215th anniversary of Russian poet Alexander Pushkin’ birth.
The main goal is to encourage schoolchildren to develop calligraphy skills, accuracy and respect for written text and the desire to write texts by hand. Those schoolchildren who decide to participate in the competition should write on sheets of A4 format paper an offered text and make it beautiful, without any marks, according to all the rules of penmanship and spelling. Works should be signed, include personal and school’s contacts, and submitted to the Russian Centre of Science and Culture in Bishkek.
The results will be announced on Wednesday of the Russian Culture event, dedicated to the Day of Slavic Writing and Culture which is to be held at the Russian Centre of Science and Culture on May 21st.
The judges panel will consist of specialists in handwriting, criminologists and Russian teachers.
