A new exhibition has opened at Armadale Community Centre and Library and will run until Sunday, September 9, 2012.
A number of free master-classes for adults and children will take place alongside the exhibition.
Tom Fleming is a master of calligraphy — the art of beautiful handwriting. He was born in Armadale in January 1921 and later worked for United Collieries Limited and the National Coal Board as a mine surveyor. Tom moved to Northumberland in 1953 where he still lives and practices calligraphy.
Cathy Muldoon, City Councilor, Deputy Councilor-Chairman for Culture and Leisure, said: «This is an interesting exhibition which showcases memorabilia from the life of Tom Fleming along with a selection of his drawings and especially his calligraphy work on paper, shells, and stones. We hope that local people will make time to visit. In addition there are free workshops for anyone who would like to be more involved.»
All sessions are free and materials will be provided, but numbers are limited so booking is advised. You can book at Armadale Library or call 01506 282282.
See the display in the Museum area and be amazed, inspired, and impressed!
