Calligraphy: the Flower of the Human Soul

Moscow is hosting an event where the sense of beauty is not entirely alien to a single person.. The International Exhibition of Calligraphy unfolded at Sokolniki ECC. If you get there by November 14th you’ll find an immense aesthetic pleasure of contemplating not mere writing but paintings with a capital P. The intricate shapes are mesmerizing. It’s not just words, phrases… these are full-fledged paintings. Even if you don’t know the language, you’ll understand the message by intuition. The images are full of emotion, expression… of love and hatred, joy and sorrow… The range of human emotion can be portrayed by the stroke of a brush, by the meticulous dance of a pen, and by the deft lines of ae pencil.

Calligraphy is much akin to painting; a hieroglyph emerges like a picture. You can either merely contemplate or contemplate and be imbued with its spirit. Every calligrapher has a hand of her own that can be distinguished among dozens of works, be it bold brush strokes, patient pen strokes, or precise pencil lines… and every image bears the imprint of the soul of its creator…
