Viktor Novikov. Workshop “Vyaz. Traditions and modernity"

Viktor Novikov (Hotkovo, Russia) is a watercolor and graphic artist, calligrapher, icon painter, originally from Sevastopol. Member of the Artists Union of Russia since 2015. Participant of Russian, regional and local art exhibitions. Victor teaches calligraphy in the Russian Palace of Interests (Sergiyev Posad). Over the workshop, Viktor will describe the history of the Vyaz script, illustrating the story with works by artists from Troitse-Sergiyeva Lavra, demonstrate modern interpretations of this ancient decorative script, and teach to write it with pointed nib (contrary to the traditional broad nib).
