Word of Welcome

I am happy to be in the right place at the right time: in Russia in 2008, at the city of St. Petersburg when there is so much discussion about calligraphy in Moscow, Rostov-on-Don and all across Russia and the rest of the world.

I am happy to find myself in the right place at the right time- in Russia, in 2008 Anno Domini, in the city of St. Petersburg, at the same time with emergence of… the talk about calligraphy in St. Petersburg, in Moscow, in Rostov-on-Don and on the entire territory of this country and worldwide…

I myself have been talking about calligraphy for the last six years, in different places and with different people. I am quite sure it is the art of calligraphy that will drive the revival of Russia as an original country and of the Russian nation as the strongest in the world. The talk took the form of the МEC Sokolniki Project, and I will be pleased to take part in creation of an ordinary miracle – when the Word takes its Shape…

From the bottom of my heart I welcome the courageous creators and proponents of the project! We are not so numerous, but all of us together are the power that can lead calligraphy from the shade of people’s oblivion. Everybody has heard something about calligraphy but there are few people who saw with their own eyes the genuine live wealth of wise spirit, which were bequeathed to us by our predecessors through Russian writing. It’s better to see once – and to have imprinted in your soul the true Russian spirit, due to which we, as a nation, survived everything that fell and erupted on us abundantly in the history, if we speak in a poetic language – and I turn to this language when I start talking about calligraphy.

My goal is, using the МEC Sokolniki project, to launch a constant talk about calligraphy in my native country, in Russia, by establishing the community of like-minded persons and a chain of schools in the entire country because calligraphy is the cheapest and the most efficient way of making a breakthrough in the mind of each person and the entire nation. And the breakthrough in conscience would inevitably lead Russians to spiritual and financial prosperity. I share the views of the Russian Government in this field (a joke that is not far from reality).
