On August 7, 2019, a Chinese scholar, doctor of art history Belozerova Vera Georgievna visited the Contemporary Museum of Calligraphy and met with the director of the museum, Alexei Yuryevich Shaburov. The sphere of scientific interests of Vera Georgievna includes the art of China, Korea, Japan and India, the professor has written several monographs on traditional Chinese art. Currently, Vera Georgievna teaches the course “Art of the East” at the University Higher School of Economics and the Russian State Humanitarian University.
Vera Georgievna was very impressed by the museum, expressed regret that she had not met the museum collection before. Exhibits of Jewish and Arabic calligraphy attracted the special attention of the professor. Vera Georgievna also expressed confidence that the tradition of beautiful writing in the countries of the Muslim world and in China will not fade, since in these countries calligraphy is part of the cultural code.
Vera Georgievna thanked for the opportunity to visit the museum, the parties agreed on further cooperation in the framework of the Great Chinese Calligraphy and Painting project, which will be held in Sokolniki Park on September 20–22.
